How it works

Four reasons it tastes like the cafe. And one number that explains why.

01

Flash-frozen at −321°F

Liquid nitrogen freezes the brew in under 60 seconds — fast enough that ice crystals never form. The cup you melt is the cup we poured.

−321°F · <60 sec freeze
02

Specialty grade only

Every lot is cupped by two Q-graders. We only buy beans scoring 87 or higher. Our 2026 average is 87.8 — your supermarket coffee scores 78 if you're lucky.

87.8 avg · Q-grader audited
03

10-second prep

Drop one capsule in 6oz hot water for an Americano, 8oz cold milk for an iced latte. No grinder, no filter, no cleanup. Compatible with anyone who owns a cup.

0:10 prep · 1:2 ratio
04

Recyclable AL + foil seal

The capsule is curbside-recyclable aluminum. The foil seal is plant-based and home-compostable. Send the empty trays back to us and we'll reuse them — twelve cycles so far.

Why frozen, not stale

Coffee starts dying the moment it's brewed.

Aromatic volatiles — the molecules that smell like jasmine, honey, plum — evaporate fast. After 4 hours in a thermos, your cup has lost about half of them. After two days at room temp it's basically water and bitterness. Freezing at −321°F stops that clock. The graph isn't a marketing line; it's gas chromatography from our QC lab.

For people who replace something

Costs $0.0064 per gram of brewed coffee. Less than your $7 latte.

If you currently make pour-over at 6 am while half-awake, or pay $7 a day for an oat latte, or fight with an espresso machine you're worried about descaling — replace that. The math, the time, and the cleanup all favor Cometeer.

YIRGACHEFFE · ICED LATTE

I dropped my $400 espresso machine routine.

These taste better. I'm not being hyperbolic — I had a Breville Bambino and a hand grinder and the whole production. The Yirgacheffe over oat milk is genuinely the best iced coffee I've had at home.

HUILA · AMERICANO

Pre-meeting coffee, every day, no thinking.

I used to make pour-over and burn 8 minutes I didn't have. Cometeer + my electric kettle is 90 seconds. Huila is rich, low-acid, holds up to oat milk. Already on auto-renew.

DECAF · AFTER DINNER

Finally a decaf that doesn't taste like decaf.

Pregnant and a coffee nerd. The Swiss-Water decaf is the first one I've had at home that I'd serve to friends without explaining myself. The cocoa-nougat note is real.

ANTIGUA · OFFICE

Bought 4 boxes for the team. They ration them.

We have a $1,200 super-auto in the office that everyone hates. Now there's a small freezer drawer of Cometeers and it's the new currency. The Antigua blend is perfect with our milk frother.

YIRGACHEFFE · TRAVEL

Survived a 14-hour flight in my carry-on cooler.

Took 16 capsules to Lagos in a soft cooler with two ice packs. Made my mom Yirgacheffe at 6 am with hotel-room hot water. She asked where the cafe was. Knock half a star for needing the cooler.

HUILA · MORNING

Great coffee. Wish shipping was a touch cheaper.

Taste is unimpeachable. The dry-ice ship-pack to Europe is €14 which is the trade-off for −321°F all the way. Subscribed at every-2-weeks, the per-cup math beats my local third-wave place.

FAQ

Sophisticated buyer questions.

How long does a capsule stay good frozen? +
Two years from production date, kept at 0°F or below. We've internally cupped 24-month-old samples blind against the original batch and the panel cannot distinguish them above chance. Don't keep them in the freezer door — temperature cycling does shorten the window.
Can I make iced coffee — what's the dilution? +
One capsule equals roughly two ounces of brewed coffee at espresso strength. For iced, dilute 1:4 with cold milk or water + ice. For a darker iced "Americano", 1:3. We ship a magnet card on your first order with all the ratios.
Is this real specialty coffee or bulk grade? +
Real specialty. We work with roasters like Onyx, George Howell, Counter Culture, and Joe Coffee — they purchase the green coffee, roast on their drums, and we brew it on their dial. Every lot needs a Q-grader score of 87+ to ship. Our 2026 ytd average is 87.8.
What's the carbon footprint of frozen shipping? +
An average 32-capsule order ships in 1.4 lb of dry ice in a curbside-recyclable insulated mailer. End-to-end footprint is 1.18 kg CO₂e per box — about 70% of a comparable specialty mail-order whole-bean shipment, because we ship full pallets to regional hubs and the last mile is a single small box. We offset the remainder via a verified Climeworks pre-purchase.
Do you offer single-origin subscriptions or only the blend? +
Both. The Single-Origin Rotation subscription gives you a different micro-lot every shipment (8 lots / 32 capsules); the Roaster's Choice subscription lets you pick a roaster (Onyx, Howell, Counter Culture, Joe) and ship from their dial. The Antigua blend is its own separate subscription that doesn't rotate.
