Vellum & Voltage is a six-person design studio in Lisbon. We make identity systems, motion, and sites for founders who would rather be polarising than forgettable — and we ship the whole thing in twelve weeks, not twelve months.
A small studio means a small portfolio on purpose. Every project below shipped in the last eighteen months — and we still answer for all of them.
We work in three tight phases over eleven to fourteen weeks. You get a named team of three the whole way through — never a junior handoff — and a Friday Loom every week so nothing is a surprise.
Read how we run a projectTwo days on-site, every interview recorded. We leave with the one true sentence your brand is allowed to say — and the ten it never can again.
Identity, type, motion, and the site built in parallel — not in series. Two directions, then one. We kill the safe one ourselves so you don't have to.
A live site, a Figma system your team can drive, and a 40-page playbook. Plus 30 days of on-call so launch week isn't on fire.
Wordmark, palette, a custom or licensed typeface, motion principles, and the rules that hold it all together. Built to survive an intern, a rebrand rumour, and a billboard.
Design and front-end build, scroll-told and fast. We hand off clean code or a CMS your marketing team can actually run.
Launch films, looping idents, and the micro-motion that makes a product feel alive. Scored, not stock.
Bottles, boxes, books, and the things people hold. We sweat the substrate and stand on press, because a brand that only lives on a screen is half a brand.
A skincare founder with a great formula and a forgettable jar. We rebuilt the whole identity around a single restrained mark and a warm, almost-uncomfortable amber — then carried it onto the bottle, the site, and a 40-second launch film.
"They showed two directions. One was the safe rebrand our board wanted. The other terrified me. They told me to pick the one that scared me — so I did, and it's the reason we got covered."
"Most studios disappear after the deck. Vellum & Voltage built the actual site, stood on press for the packaging, and answered Slack at 11pm during launch week. Six people who act like sixty."
"They handed our team a Figma system we could actually drive, plus a playbook that's settled three internal fights about the logo already. The handoff is the part most people fumble. They didn't."
Anything not here, ask on the intro call — it's 25 minutes, no deck, and we'll tell you straight if we're the wrong studio.
A complete identity-and-site build runs €38k–€72k depending on scope, with a fixed price agreed before we start — never hourly. Smaller defined pieces (a launch film, a packaging refresh) start at €12k. We send a line-itemed quote after the intro call.
There are six of us and no junior tier to hand off to. The two people you meet on the call are two of the three who'll be in your files every day. We cap ourselves at three live projects so that stays true.
We build it. Front-end in Next.js with GSAP for motion, wired to Sanity or Shopify so your team can edit copy without us. You get the repo and a CMS, not a static export you can't change.
If they're working, absolutely — we'll build around them and say so. If they're holding you back, we'll show you exactly why before suggesting we redraw the type or shift the palette. We never change things just to leave a fingerprint.
Every project includes 30 days of on-call after go-live for fixes and questions. After that, 73% of clients keep us on a light monthly retainer for new campaigns and motion — but it's never a lock-in, and the system is yours regardless.
Send us the half-formed idea, the awkward deadline, the brand you're embarrassed by. Twenty-five minutes, no pitch deck, no obligation.
